FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Christian Screenwrite Announces Winners of Fourth Annual Contest March 30 , 2007 (Bloomfield, N.J.)--Christian Screenwrite today announced the winners of its 2006 Christian screenwriting competition. Winners will receive cash awards and passes to the WYSIWYG Film Festival, an internationally recognized event for wholesome, family cinema entertainment. Fred Paskiewicz of Victorville, CA. won first place for his crime drama THE MONKS OF MEPKIN ABBEY, about monks who take the law into their own hands in response to a city's rising crime wave. Jeremy Hoffpauir of Fort Worth, TX. won second place for his supernatural drama, THE GIFT about a little girl, taken in by a minister and his wife, who claims to see angels and demons. N.E. Thompson of Ashburn, VA. won third place for her family drama BROKEN ANGEL about a tough female lawyer in search of a broken crèche. "Thank you Christian Screenwrite for existing. It's so necessary in today's world to have uplifting screenplays read and appreciated. As tough as the screenwriting market is, it's even tougher if you want to say something positive about faith. And for that, I'm thrilled to be a part of it," said Paskiewicz. "Many of the scripts entered into this year's competition were a bit edgier than in year's past," said LaVonne McIver James, founder of Christian Screenwrite. I think this illustrates the thinking of many writers focusing on Christian films. It's seems they're saying 'you don't have to be corny to be Christian." We can't wait to see what next year's competition has to offer." To read interviews with winners, please visit, www.christianscreenwrite.com.
